ITINERARY:
Day 1 BOARD YOUR OVERNIGHT TRANSATLANTIC FLIGHT. Day 2 ARRIVE IN ROME, ITALY. at Rome Upon arrival in Rome, you will be trans­ferred to your hotel. The afternoon is free to begin exploring the Italian capital. Tonight, enjoy a Welcome Drink with your Tour Director and traveling companions. Day 3 ROME. at Rome Today's sightseeing with a local guide includes a visit to St. Peter's Basilica to see the famous Pieta by Michelangelo. Then cross the River Tiber to enjoy a walking tour which will in­clude views of the Forum, the Colosseum, Piazza Venezia and the Circus Maximus. The balance of the day is free to continue exploring on your own, shop or relax in a café or restaurant. (B) Day 4 ROME / VENICE. at Venice. Leave Rome and travel past the medieval hilltop towns of Orvieto and Orte and the Apennine Mountains to the romantic city of Venice. (B,D) Day 5 VENICE / LAKE MAGGI­ORE. at Lake Maggiore. This morning, cruise the canals of Venice to St. Mark's Square, viewing the Bridge of Sighs, the Ducal Palace and more. Next, visit a Murano glassblowing workshop. Afterward, depart for the spectacular Italian Lake District and Lake Maggiore. (B,D) Day 6 LAKE MAGGIORE / LUCERNE, SWITZERLAND. at Lucerne. A scenic drive through the Gotthard range takes you to lakeside Lucerne. On arrival, see the Lion Monument, built in memory of Louis XVI’s Swiss Guard, and stroll across the famous covered Chapel Bridge. (B,D) Day 7 LUCERNE / PARIS, FRANCE. at Paris. Today travel via Basel into France, pass­ing Belfort and remnants of the Maginot Line. Stop to view the vineyards at Savigny-Lès-Beaune, passing Château­neuf and con­tinue on to Paris, the lively French capital. Your evening is free to begin discovering the delights of this vibrant city. (B) Day 8 PARIS. at Paris This morning’s sightseeing tour with a local guide includes Notre Dame Cathedral and the Pont Alexandre III. Then ascend to the second level of the Eiffel Tower for spectacular views over the city before driving along the Champs Elysées to the Arc de Triomphe. The rest of the day is at leisure to sightsee on your own or do some last minute shopping. Tonight, savor a Farewell Dinner with new friends. (B,D) Day 9 PARIS / LONDON, ENGLAND. at London. Journey across the Somme Battlefields and past the Vimy Ridge to Calais. Cross the English Channel to the White Cliffs of Dover, then continue on to London. (B). Day 10 LONDON. at London.
